Staff from Wyndham District High School, Kalumburu, Dawal and Jundranung Remote Community Schools and regional office staff attended A Framework for Understanding Poverty professional development on Friday 19th August at the Peter Reed Memorial Hall in Wyndham.
A Framework for Understanding Poverty teaches the hidden rules of economic class and spreads the message that, despite the obstacles poverty can create in all types of interaction, there are specific strategies for overcoming them. Through case studies, personal stories and observations that produced some aha! moments, the information struck a chord with all the participants and provided a hopeful message.
The workbook - A Framework for Understanding Poverty, was used to illustrate practical real-world tools needed to improve our effectiveness in working with children from all socioeconomic backgrounds.
